Secrets of the wine world

“It’s a pity you can’t caress wine”, the German writer Kurt Tucholsky observed. A good glass of wine is part of the culinary tradition and invigorates the senses, practically since time immemorial. Probably for this reason, and because it is simply fun, the weekly wine tastings at our resorts are extremely popular with our guests. In each Familux Resort – Alpenrose in Lermoos, Dachsteinkönig in the Salzkammergut, Oberjoch in the Allgäu and, as of autumn, in The Grand Green in the Thuringian Forest – a large team of qualified sommeliers with their expertise takes care of the guests’ well-being. They can draw from the full range: the wine lists include a total of approx. 1,000 different wines, and 80,000 to 100,000 bottles are stored in the wine cellars. 

This holiday experience is now also available at home – with the “Sommelier’s Secrets Subscription”. Wines carefully selected by all Familux sommeliers are delivered to your home month after month. The subscription can be ordered in the Familux Shop in two different versions – as a package with three or six wines from the Familux wine cellar. Together with the package, the sommeliers will send you some key information about the wineries, tasting notes, food recommendations and recipes from the chefs to try out. 

Our first edition of the Sommelier’s Secrets, which was sent out in May 2022, included wines to match the early summer and the great temperatures, for example, which made the anticipation of summer and the holidays skyrocket. Exciting wines from the Wachau region – a Grüner Veltliner is a must -, a sparkling wine from the best sparkling wine producer in Austria, castle wines from the red wine region of Burgenland, an aged Chardonnay, our favourite rosé and a noble creation from Italy’s most famous winegrowing family delighted many a wine lover on the terrace or balcony at home.
