Move Smart!
Move smart! Be a role model - Movement should be fun – only then do we stay motivated in the long run. It is always wonderful to be active as a family, to laugh together and to try out new things. The exercise and education programme “Beweg dich schlau! Von Felix Neureuther” (BDS) uses playful exercises that activate both mind and body to promote physical health, mental balance and cognitive performance.
Studies show that today’s children already struggle with simple motor exercises and have a harder time concentrating. Fit and smart into the future together – that is the vision of ski ace Felix Neureuther. Sport has always played a major role in the life of the professional athlete. To pass on his insights, he founded the Felix Neureuther Foundation. Through it, his movement programme “Beweg dich schlau!” is brought to life. Developed in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich, the programme links mind and body: “We promote children’s coordination skills and their cognitive abilities,” emphasises Neureuther.
5 BDS tips for your family - Active together – these five exercises bring movement into everyday family life.
Cookie challenge with balance - Who can cut out cookies the longest – standing on one leg and with one eye closed? Turn it into a fun family challenge!
The active monthly calendar - Create 24 small movement exercises together – one for each day of the month, also suitable as an Advent calendar or Easter countdown. Alternatively, you can choose just one exercise (e.g. squats) and increase it daily: one repetition on the first day of the month, two on the second – up to 31 repetitions by the end of the month.
Brain training on blades - During ice skating or inline skating together, one family member leads the way and the others imitate the movements – for example arm circles, curves or turns. Want to make it harder? Mirror the movements! By the way, the exercise also works wearing socks on the living room floor.
Animal fun in every room - Craft or draw an animal for every room and hang it up there. On an additional sheet, write the name of a different animal and hang it next to the picture – not matching the animal shown. So, for example, place the word “rabbit” next to a picture of a goose. When you enter the room, you have to act out the depicted (not labelled!) animal – with movements or sounds.
Family bingo - Create a list of things you can spot on a walk outside – e.g. a fir branch, something red, something sparkly. Whoever finds everything first wins a small reward. Or you can “work through” the list together as a family. Get creative when putting the tasks together!
Join in at the Kids Club - Since 2024, “Beweg dich schlau! Von Felix Neureuther” has been implemented at the Kids Clubs of the Familux Resorts in Lermoos, Oberjoch, Oberhof and Gosau. The Familux Kids Coaches have received comprehensive training. In the update workshop in summer 2025, they refreshed their knowledge with new exercises, tips and ideas – for even more fun and effectiveness.
