Set sail with Familux

Sun-kissed skin, gently rolling waves, the wind in your hair, salt on your lips and no amenity lacking: Familux takes family holidays to a new dimension – on the water. With Familux Yachts, a brand new offering was launched in 2022. The sailing yacht Familux One is ready for adventures on the open seas and in the most charming marinas of the Mediterranean. On board the luxurious catamaran, with a length of 14 metres and a width of eight metres, parents and children are looked after all around by skipper, cook and childcare. Thanks to separate crew cabins, privacy is always assured.

The starting point of each trip is the tranquil town of Pomer not far from Pula in Istria. The route along the Croatian coast is completely adapted to the family’s wishes. “Where you like it, you stay,” is how Selina Schwarzenbacher sums up the high degree of individuality of each trip. She developed the Familux Yachts offer together with Familux Resorts. Her passion for the wet element is no coincidence: “This type of family holiday has a very personal background for me, because I often went sailing with my family in Croatia as a child. Those were carefree days full of exciting adventures that simply thrilled me.” 

Entertainment for the children and relaxation for the parents is a priority, in keeping with the Familux philosophy. Leisure time for mums and dads on the sun deck while the children splash around in the water, train their balance on the SUP or explore the surroundings with a crew member? This is just as possible as a romantic dinner for two on the yacht while skipper, hostess and private chef dine with the children ashore. Adventures are guaranteed: From jet skiing to kayaking, windsurfing to scuba diving, zip-lining to cave exploring, visiting national parks to aqua parks, there is plenty to experience. “Croatia is one of the leading nautical destinations and the range of activities is correspondingly impressive,” Schwarzenbacher says.

In the spirit of discovery and adventure, the topic of safety naturally comes hand in hand. “Everyone receives a safety briefing at check-in,” emphasises Schwarzenbacher, who herself was already on sailing trips at the tender age of five. Children always wear life jackets on board, the catamaran can be optimally surveyed, an on-board first-aid kit is well equipped for minor aches and pains. The following always applies: The instructions of the skipper, who is responsible for the guests, must always be followed. By the way: “The skipper is also happy to share his nautical knowledge and needs assistance with smaller manoeuvres every now and then,” says the sailing expert.

The Private Chef on board provides culinary highlights. Depending on dietary preferences, fresh, regional products are used. “The chef also likes to go to the market with the family to do the shopping,” says Schwarzenbacher, whetting the appetite for plenty of variety on water and on land. All-on-board catering is included in the price, which also includes 30 bottles of Familux house wines and all non-alcoholic drinks. If you want to dine in the speciality restaurant of a coastal village, this is not included, but the crew will be happy to organise the most beautiful table with the best view there.

The Familux Yachts Experience

Along the 6,278 km long Croatian coastline, 1,244 islands, cliffs and reefs, marinas and yacht harbours are waiting to be discovered with the Familux One sailing yacht. All kinds of water sports, walks through ancient Adriatic towns, the processing of collected shells into works of art for the little ones, exclusive wine tastings for the grown-ups – the possibilities are plentiful and include exploration tours in the Brijuni National Park with golf buggies or a canoe trip at night with light shows. For younger guests there is also a large collection of games, reading and handicrafts on board, the necessary equipment from high chairs to buggies and age-appropriate meals. Arrival is by car (a guarded car park is available), transfers are organised from airports such as Pula, Rijeka or Trieste.
