Catch your breath with the whole family - in the excellent Oberjoch - Familux Resort

After winning the annual Travellers’ Choice Awards, every year since 2014, Familux Resort in Oberjoch continues to take home accolades from the review platform TripAdvisor at a brisk pace. This week, one of the most prestigious ones followed, and we can’t contain our joy: the Best of the Best Award 2020, which now ranks us among the best one percent of all hotels worldwide. But there’s more: at the same time, thousands of positive reviews have catapulted us to the top of the family hotels in all of Germany! And the Oscar goes to… And the winner is… First place goes to Oberjoch!

Can you imagine how we celebrate here in Oberjoch? All our efforts that have paid off, the demanding time during the lockdown, the implementation of the many Corona measures afterwards, then a hotel that was completely booked out over the summer and now the master class of all tourism awards worldwide. That makes us – do you want an earworm? – “ATEMLOS” (breathless) in Oberjoch, not only at night… But you can breathe easy with us, with your whole family.

What makes your holiday with us so safe?  Since October 2015, the Oberjoch – Familux Resort has been awarded the “German Hygiene Certificate” and is re-tested every year. We are proud to be the first hotel in Bavaria with this award. The Deutsche Hygienezertifikat GmbH is an independent consulting and testing company that inspects and advises businesses and only certifies them if their hygiene and cleanliness are to an impeccable standard. The DHZ scrutinises, for example, products, hotels, restaurants, but also clinics and surgeries. The renewal of this certificate is subject to annual, strict inspections by the expert commission.

The youngest guests don’t really care – but the stars twinkle for them too. With children in a luxury hotel? “It can often be difficult with children in a ‘normal’ luxury hotel,” our boss Volker Küchler always says. As the father of an adult daughter, he should know: “Luxury is defined a little differently for families with children,” he says, who is always bringing new trends to our hotel: “In addition to our proven and well-thought-out all-round package, which is tailored to the needs of young and old – down to the smallest detail – we are constantly developing. In the meantime, we have created areas that are only accessible to adults, the separate sauna and the lounge with phenomenal views of the mountain range. Everywhere else – be it the cinema, the bowling alley, the pool area, the tyre water slide – the family can come together, let off steam and have fun. But in the adult’s only areas, silence reigns.”

One of our top themes is childcare, which convinces our guests and encourages such positive reviews that we now find ourselves in first place among all (!) family hotels in Germany: It does not start from the seventh month, but on request already on the seventh day of the baby’s life. And is available daily at 08:30 in the morning and ends at 21:30. A 25-strong professional team of trained kids’ coaches looks after the youngsters in five age groups, from the crawling crew to the teen gang. The offer for the little ones is immense and ranges from the Indian tepee, climbing forest and mini zoo to the indoor go-kart track and the 128-metre-long tube water slide, the longest in a hotel far and wide. On around 2,000 square metres you can play, frolick and dream.

Our popular centrepiece is the large panorama pool area with farm pool and the recently expanded sauna areas including our own children’s and textile sauna. Athletes’ hearts beat not only a little faster but also higher in the new fitness room during a workout on top of hotel. 

Big and small gourmets get their money’s worth at the breakfast buffet, the delicacies at lunchtime, the cake, ice cream and snack buffets as well as at culinary theme evenings. Top quality baby food can be found in the HiPP corner, with the selection varying in the evening at the well-stocked wine bar, where the in-house sommeliers are also happy to invite you to a wine tasting when your little angles are blissfully (and babyphone-monitored) asleep. Mountain railway rides to the nearby hiking area and ski passes are free for our guests – for anyone that (somehow) feel they need to leave our hotel.
