His maternal family lived in the USA and managed hotels in New York, where he often spent his holidays. These experiences sparked his interest in the industry. After completing his training as a hotel specialist, he gained experience in prestigious German restaurants and later pursued a degree in economics. For over 20 years, he worked with the Innside hotel group before transitioning to hotel consultancy. His most valuable lesson from this time? “It’s less about technical expertise and more about people management, communication, and leadership culture.”

A Fabulous Family World at the Alpenrose – Familux Resort – Today, Thomas Krause welcomes guests from all over the globe as the director of the Alpenrose – Familux Resort. Originally established as a small guesthouse with just five rooms, the resort now boasts 380 beds and offers an enchanting world for families. Nestled amidst the Lechtal Alps, the Ammergau Alps, and the Wetterstein Mountains, the breathtaking natural surroundings set the stage for unforgettable family holidays in the Alps. That’s the biggest challenge at the resort? “Staying calm and relaxed,” Krause shares with a smile. Living with his partner in Farchant near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Krause prioritises being present for both guests and staff. Modern Leadership and Expertise – Krause underscores the importance of meaningful dialogue with employees. The resort’s team comprises about 190 staff members and hosts approximately 100,000 overnight stays annually. Both guest and staff retention rates are impressively high. “Leadership styles have evolved over the years. Employees are given more responsibility, which fosters greater independence.” In luxury hotel management, it’s vital to assess employees’ expertise, encourage accountability, and promote positive communication. Krause’s ultimate goal is to firmly establish the Alpenrose as a sustainable 5-star family hotel.
